None of our founders was Jewish. One of our founders
may have had a Jewish father (conflicting stories) but the Jewish faith is passed through the mother, and this founder was a Christian and was active in a Christian group at Barnard. There is speculation that her Jewish heritage played a role in our founding though. That has never really been confirmed. Our founders were adamant, however, that religious preference play no role in inclusion in AOII.
