I was waiting the entire week for it, but I gotta admit, I am a little disappointed. There were alot of questions unanswered and I didn't appreciate them skipping through her life so quickly. For example, in one scene she was 6 years old, the next scene she was 16. I was like

???? Her father (doesn't he seem a little like Ike Turner??? lol) disappeared for a few years (after the Ike-like breakdown over the music cds) and 'reappeared' when she got pregnant. Where was he during those high school years? Where were her brothers throughout most of the movie? There was one scene in the beginning with them, and they didn't show up again until the very end of the movie with the Idol audition. I also expected them to cover the issue of her 'illiteracy' a little more--maybe the last scene with her reading to her daughter would have been more meaningful.
I thought they could have did a lot more with the story, but maybe this is a way to get people to read her book (which I haven't yet).
