Not necessarily rumors

Sad thing is that some of this stuff actually DOES happen. On our campus, and this is no rumor, one of the sororities has their new members sleep in their basement in trash bags. Another group does not allow their new members to go to their rooms for the entire last week of pledging. They carry everything in their backpacks, wear the same clothes and don't shower all week. Trust me, I sat next to one of the pledges when I was a pledge, and that girl REEKED!!! And one of my best friends in high school, while she would not really divulge what she had to do, told me that if they got to do the dishes at night at the house, that was a privilege!!

I know on other campuses, hazing does exist. On one of the campuses that I advise a chapter at, a sorority got caught by their national organization hazing. The group had two choices: repledge or be stripped of their letters. After they made their decision, they sat and with the president of the national organization, sent a letter to the president of all of the other national organizations on campus, telling them of all the hazing that went on in all of the sororities. Some of the stuff was hideous!
