Re: Re: Delta Gamma has an open motto "Do Good"

George Banta is one of the most respected greeks in history, second to William Raimand Baird of course. I live only 20 minutes from Lawrence, and the Banta family is well-known in these here 'neck of the woods'. He is the founder of the George Banta Co.; a good majority of the books that we all read were published by the George Banta Co., in Menasha, WI. Next time you are looking at a book, check it out, it may have been published by one of the greatest Phi Delts who ever lived. Actually, if you get a chance to look at your ritual books, they may have been published there as well. (Thats if they were not in-house..........which many are not!)

PS, his family is still one of Lawrences largest contributors.

More on this interesting bit of history: That one male initiated at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, home of the Alpha Zeta (?)chapter of Delta Gamma. The Banta family has a long history with the school, and the football stadium is named after them (the Banta Bowl). Not all of his descendants went DG, however, one who rushed while I was a sophomore decided to join Theta.

It's amazing what you learn serving as a Rho Chi (yes, at Lawrence University).
