I'm pretty sure most types of planes maintain pressure in the cargo hold, just as an FYI - there have been dozens of examples of planes having to land because of pressure destabilization in the cargo hold. However, it's lower than in the cabin (but not by too much).
The shampoo exploding may be a result of temperature/thermal expansion more than anything, or the physical handling of your bags. The temperature decrease is significant over the course of a flight.
