I don't know how "natural" it is. I went to UGA and I'm from Georgia with deep roots. I'm aware of the beauty pageant PNMs.
But they want things in a sorority that don't hold any interest for me at all. BTW, I don't understand your "don't have many minorities" comment. Did you mean your fraternity or southern universities? If you mean southern universities, you might need to open your eyes.
