I think I will go with the over-ear ones now, but does anybody know of a good and not too expensive for my broke ass pair that folds? I carry so much crap around in my bag every day that I don't want to deal with the bulk of headpones too.

Dude, I've been converted to the Church of the Quality Headphones - these are my latest toys for the road:
Sennheiser PX200
The MSRP isn't even close - I paid $50 and that was at a freaking Guitar Center (although, to be fair, he may have thought he was selling me the PX100s... anyway), amazon quickly becomes a blowout. For $35ish you can get
these, which are behind-the-head . . . check the website, but there are a surprising number of dealers.
You'll never buy anything Sony-related again - the sound quality is incredible, even on the low-end ones, and they put up with a LOT more abuse. The PX (over-the-head) ones fold extremely nicely, and even come with a hardcase to keep them in when folded.
I don't even want to tell you what I paid for the high-end pair for my cube, but let's just say they're completely incredible and worth every penny.
