'Days': Apt. fire rekindles old flames

Things heat up (literally!) for honeymooners Lucas and Carrie today when their apartment catches fire on "Days of Our Lives."

"Lucas and Carrie have marathon honeymoon sex," says Christie Clark, who plays Carrie. "Five rounds! They fall asleep. The candles are lit and the curtains are blowing. The curtains catch on fire."

The newlyweds are too exhausted to notice, but Carrie's true love - Lucas' brother, Austin - happens to be passing by.

"Austin sees [the fire] from the street and saves the day," says Clark. "He carries Carrie out, but she's a little worse for wear. They take her to the hospital, but she's kind of out of it."

Austin picks that moment to confess his real feelings to his new sister-in-law.

"She can't move, but she can hear," says Clark. "She hears him say he still loves her."

Carrie wakes up, reeling from Austin's confession.

"She says to him, 'Hearing you say that really threw me for a loop. Please don't do this. Don't screw this up. We've both decided to move on. I'm trying to move forward. I'm married!'"

But viewers know Carrie wed Lucas only because she's pregnant with his child. She actually loves Austin.

"She's [angry] in a way when Austin says all that to her, but she is also extremely overjoyed and excited by what he said," says Clark.

Still, the new Mrs. Roberts insists they both do the right thing and stay with their partners.

(In true soap fashion, Austin is engaged to Carrie's sister, Sami.)

"Austin agrees, but only because he thinks she's pregnant," says Clark.

Wait - Carrie's not pregnant?

"She took a home pregnancy test and it was positive," says the actress. "She called her obstetrician's office and they said, 'We don't want to see you till 10 weeks.' She's one of those people who didn't wait. She rushed the wedding because she thought she was pregnant, but it was a false positive."

That doesn't come out till the end of next week, but when it does, look for massive fireworks to follow.

"Carrie is desperate not to hurt her sister because they are finally friends," says Clark. "She doesn't want to break her sister's heart. But she wants Austin bad."

Sami has kind of a thing for Lucas, so maybe the sisters could switch partners.

"Wouldn't that be fun?" responds Clark. "All I know is that Carrie really wants a baby - and I'm sure at some point Austin will be that supersperm!"
