Is the church air conditioned? It's even worse to be stuck in a hot, muggy church with no AC and absolutely no air flow (had one of those last year).
I would think most people would be wearing sundresses of some sort- because, really, what else dressy can you wear in Mississippi in August, outside, and not die of heat exhaustion? I would definitely go for something free flowing and floaty... nothing clingy or really form fitting. Ick. You have my condolences
