They were quicker to the ball, aggressive, and deft of foot, and they were better prepared. In fact, one could see that Brasil was hesitant(intimidated?) in playing their more free-wheeling style, knowing that France could make them pay with their quicknes and savvy. I'm so glad that Zidane's saga continues! He'll go down as one of soccer's all-time greats.
