			Oops!  When I read the OP I didn't think about the possible NPC infractions, but those who brought it up are spot on.  Bad Z!
 Instead I simply thought it might be considered rude for a PNM to contact the sorority asking whether her rec was received.  Sort of like hearing from somebody else you were invited to a party, then calling the hostess who you've never met to make sure.  The PNM didn't send the rec, the alum did.  It's the alum's responsibility to make sure it got sent to the correct address and was received.
 
 Don't count on Thank You notes being sent out prior to Recruitment either as a way of confirming.  We do our best sending these out as the Recs are received during the summer, but we typically get inundated during Recruitment workshop and Recruitment itself.  There simply isn't enough time to get them sent out.
 
 If an alum wants to check on it, I see nothing wrong with that.  Just keep in mind that whoever answers the phone many not have time to look right away depending on when you call. We file all the Recs alphabetically by PNM name so we can check fairly easily even though we get several hundred recs every year.
