Hrm, as a diabetic, what you describe sounds very similar to a hypoglycemic episode, which can also mean siezures if severe enough. Note: You don't have to be hypoglycemic for your blood sugar to dip to a dangerous level. If you'd been running around all day w/o a lot to eat, it can still happen. You probably don't remember, but were you feeling confused/tired/lethargic or having any really bizzare thoughts right before this happened? That's my big tip off, I usually just sort of start having these incredibly irrational thoughts, start to have a cold sweat, heart will thump, and then it's lights out. Not fun.
I'd definitely put a call into your GP, he'll probably want to draw blood and do a fasting test of some sort.
