Two of my older daughters--one has a master's and one has a bachelor's--are probably going to do alternative certification to become teachers. They're in critical fields (Spanish, science) and they want to be employable wherever they live, which they would certainly be in this state. They also want to have the same breaks as their future children would have.

As teachers, my husband and I have mixed feelings. Teaching is satisfying and does allow you to be with your own kids but there are those psycho parents and administrators to deal with. And there's always some unmeetable standard that some government official has dreamed up that makes everyone crazy....cough cough, No Child Left Behind. Wonderful idea, impossible to attain.
