Michael Moore is manipulative and, when you get down to it, just a straight up liar. He skews people's words, edits his documentary footage to misconstrue events, etc. etc. There have been countless numbers of studies and research from democrats and republicans alike who have noted this and released documentation concerning his works.
I think all of the Liberal and Conservative radio and TV hosts use every propaganda technique known to humankind.

By and large, I think we would be better off without them because they are devisive. For the most part, I don't know that they change anyones mind -- but rather further radicalize (new word?) feelings we already have toward one side or the other. They may not really dramatically change a persons viewpoint, but simply move them farther to one side or another.

Actually, there was a study some time ago about elections (I can't remember who did it) that basically said that broadcasting didn't really change anyones mind, but rather re-enforced their decisions on how to vote. I suspect, although I'm not going to do a study to prove it, that the same would be true of these screamers that have become so popular.
