We're tempted to do something like Jamaica/St. Lucia/Bahamas/Mexico...but we just bought a house and w/ the timeline we're looking at I don't quite feel comfortable spending that much money. I would go to the keys. You can probably get a cheap bed and breakfast in key west and then go to the beach, bars, museums, go sailing/scuba/or snorkeling also. You pretty much decide if you're going to be lazy and relax or go out and party. I just got back from south beach and key west and I think it's awesome.
Big cities like nyc and chicago are probably really nasty right now with the heat and the east coast is getting beaten down with rain. Plus whenever you go to places like that, you never feel like you're on vacation since you're always moving around.
You know I think Cali is awesome and you could maybe do a driving trip where you start up north and go to places like sausalito and hang out with the gay people in san fran and then drive along the coast and make stops in sb, sd, or la.
I think anything more than 2 days is too much for vegas and it's not a couple's place IMO.
You could probably go to travelzoo.com and see if anything cool is on sale too, but I still think the Keys are probably the best idea.
