Swansea Community Group on Yahoo

I joined the Swansea community group on Yahoo. I have received several replies, each offering some information - and some giving me back the postings that we have here! But some folks are genuienly trying to be helpful.

Below is a transcript of a recent exchange:

<S.Clark wrote> There are 6 on Hortonville Road - Mount Hope, Martin, Mason-Horton, Baker, Reed-Mason and the Col. Peleg Slade

(coincidentally, I have been working on getting this stuff online but I haven’t had much time)

There are, I believe a couple of small cemeteries on HORTONville road. Maybe this is what you are looking for.

I thought I should make a brief post regarding why I am chasing the ghost of Warren Cole.

Warren Cole was a founder of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, on of the large national fraternities that you sometimes read about. From time to time we run articles on fraternity history in our magazine. We would like to run a piece on Cole and would like to include a photo of his headstone or marker.

The best information that we have is that he died on December 29, 1968 at Truesdale Hospital in Fall River, Ma. Funeral was January 1, 1969. Services conducted by Rev. Allen Webster Joslin, rector of Christ Episcopal Chuch, Swansea, Ma. Interment was at "Horton Land".

We cannot find this place called Horton Land. I wonder if it might be the name of a large family plot someplace or perhaps the name of a farm or other land holding.

Suggestions and ideas are solicited.

Many Thanks
