I've been thinking about this long and hard, because right now, I'm still a little consumed with 9/11. But after some thought, I'd have to say slavery, of all kinds, everywhere. I would like to know what the world would be like if people had just left everyone where they belonged. No indentured servents, either. I wonder how rich the continent of Africa would be. I wonder how nations would have developed without the assistance of free or next to free labor. I want to know what it would be like if we were in Africa, and had never been brought here. I wonder how different things would be. I wonder if democracy would exist. I wonder if the freedoms that this country takes so much pride in would exist elsewhere. I wonder what (specifically African descendants) our self-image would be like. I wonder if the thin, Caucasion, blonde hair, blue eyes features would still be the standard set for beauty. I wonder which nations would be superpowers. I could go on and on.
