Really, how much beer money are you going to sacrfice by paying your dues first. So what if you miss a few parties. There always will be a party to go to, but what does your membership mean to you.

That would be good advice for some, but for others it's not so easy scraping together the extra money to pay dues. I know for one that unforseen circumstances can come up that cause people to have to be responsible adults and decide what they're going to spend their money on that month - dues or rent, dues or insurance, dues or new car breaks...
