Snopes.com is in the process of researching the validity of this.
I know I'm going to get ripped for saying this: Personally I don't see the uproar...it's been going on for years, building a fence seems preposterous, I don't necessarily think that when the final cost/benefit analysis is done that it will prove in the average citizen's best interest, yada yada yada.
I will say this, I am by no means a supporter of our President, but his initial idea on this matter made by far the most sense. Rather than let them work illegally forever, he was at least trying to get them on to the payrolls and part of the tax pool eventually.
