I lived in Virginia for five years and had never heard of Virginia State University until very recently. I thought it was a made up school.
I figured Virginia's a commonwealth so why would there be a public school with "Virginia State" in the name. But now it occurs to me that I never had the same thought about Norfolk State. I'm such a dork!
