True - Indiana has a very good school as well, and I think USC's j-school is also a good one.
A couple of my professors, Bob Zelnick (former correspondent for ABC news and now head of the journalism program) and Jack Falla (NHL beat reporter for SI) used to tell us that it would always be a great conversation starter to say you're a journalist. People either think you're a passionate muckraker or a sleazy tabloid writer, and no one seems to consider much in between.
Unfortunately, some of our own colleagues (Jayson Blair, etc.) have been making it harder for us to stand up for the profession.
