Greetings everyone!
This is just my personal view on MGC's...I think it's a good idea for those greeks who are not as known on the campus to have a council of their own. It allows for each organization to help each other in terms of expansion and helps each organization get their name out to the campus.
I attend Georgia State and just in the past year we have 3 new sororities, Sigma Lambda Gamma(latina-based), Theta Nu Xi(multicultural) and Delta Phi Lambda(asian-interest). They are in the process of forming a MGC right now. My sorority was invited to join, but unfortunately we had to decline
I liked the idea because more than anything, it's a good thing to know that the support of other organizations that are going through the same kinds of "growing pains" is there. My school is commuter, so you can understand just how difficult it is to start something new AND maintain it. Even though I'm in a service sorority, we are in the same boat as these organizations-we're still trying to grow and expand within our chapter although we've been here about two years longer.
I hated that we couldn't join but I made clear to those organizations that my chapter would be there in support of their programs. I believe in supporting those who are going through what I had to go through as a chapter founder. So I wish them a lot of luck and success-and the same good wishes goes out to all of you too!
