i agree. the neutral tones are always good, and pastels work nicely too, especially with a navy blue suit.

go with colors you look good in. pretend you are the decorations and the interview is the house! what would you have to wear to look best in that environment?

im a big fan of pinstripes. always looks good with a bright color, like turquoise or pink. then again, what's the interview for? you dont wanna go all willy-nilly if it doesnt fit the feel of the place or the interviewer.

and dont worry about the growing out of suits. they can always be given/traded with people (im sure one of your sorority sisters could use it sometime) or given to Dress for Success.
