We bought an artificial one last year. I HATED to do it, but I was the one who put it up, decorated etc...I got sick of waiting for THEM to bring it home.
Unless you buy those $80.00 trees, I would wait for the sales, they will be 1/2 price.
Sears had some beauties and so did Lowes. Ours is one with lights on, I don't like it. You'll be stuck with it and if you want to change things up, it will be very difficult.
The tall ones are bigger than you think and wider as well. Double check your space. The ones that have spacing between the branches are the more realistic looking IMO and easier to decorate.
