When I had an evaluation for it, the doc told me that they couldn't guarantee that I'd get 20/20 vision and that if I needed corrective lenses, it couldn't be in the form of contacts. His conclusion was that, if I'm doing fine with contacts now, I might as well wait. If at some point my eyes reject contacts, then I could consider lasik.
I also know people who have had to have touch ups. Not everybody, but some. I would guess that could happen if your eyes continue to get worse. Mine have had the same prescription for about 10 years now, so I wasn't too worried about that part.
