The subtle distinction between "not there" and "not intended" was, I suppose lost on me with the question "You're from the south, aren't you?," the instructions on how to find places on a map north of the Mason-Dixon line (if they're there at all) and the statement that "Southerners [not "some Southerners"] like volgirl stereotype themselves."

MysticCat, I live in Charlotte, NC. I have seen first hand Southern stereotypes, but I do know that most people down here are not like that. The instructions for finding Alaska were meant specifically for volgirl, because from her posts, I'm not really sure if she knows Alaska is part of the US, or if 2+2=4, or that gravity is what causes her to fall on her ass all day when she trips over her own two feet. And I'll amend my statement to say "Southerners that are like volgirl stereotype themselves"- that was the intent of the statement.
