No they aren't, it's the principal of it. There's a reason that the big lettered shirts are so popular, it's because people feel the need to flaunt around the fact that they're Greek. Being Greek is about sisterhood, it's about secrets and things that no one else knows about...it's something that should be shared among the girls in your house...not the whole campus. Granted, you can't get all of that out of your letters, but if you are confident in your sisterhood and everything that your sorority gives you, then why do you feel the need to flaunt around something so sacred. I doubt they did that back in the 19th century.
