Many of the sororities at places like Ole Miss have been there since before the sororities at PSU even EXISTED nationally. They are certainly not dormant or not growing - they have more women wanting to join than they could ever take.
It has nothing to do with the age of the sororities or how long they've been on campus - esp since when new sororities WERE tried at your campus, they ended up closing their chapters. It has to do with Greek life in general being stagnant at many places - my campus is in the same boat. No NPC is going to go in and expand when others have been there and flopped. If the fraternities want to, fine, but NPC doesn't work the way the fraternities do, and all the wishing and whining will not change it.
