Pretty much every state has a huge backlog of DNA samples that have yet to be analyzed because the state funds aren't there to process them. Some DNA samples sit on the shelves for at least two years.

In a unrelated case in Illinois in the death Riley Fox, her father's DNA sample was put in the state queue. This man sat in jail for at least 6 months to a year I think waiting for the results. It costs his family $250,000 out of their own pocket to have the sample analyzed quicker that the states schedule.

Should the lacrosse teams samples receive priority over other cases going on in the state?
