Ok - I'll admit it too....
I LOVE silly teen shows and movies like...
Heathers (rent it, if you've never seen it...it's hillarious)
Beverly Hills 90210 (when the show was on, I never missed a show. In college, my friends and I watched it together faithfully).
The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles - I consider them to be classics.
I'll also admit that in 7th and 8th grade, I was Duran Duran's #1 black fan! Y'all know the term "Duranie". I was one of them. My room was plastered with every John Taylor poster I could get my hands on.
I'll also admit that I also loved Depeche Mode, General Public and Tears For Fears.
I was the only black kid at a Catholic School. It's bound to happen when you gotta kick it with girls like "Mary Katherine" and about 10 "Jennifers" from preschool on up.
I'll also admit that I went through a time in 7th grade when all my white friends were cutting their hair really short with some shaved look on their sides. My mother said "HELL NO" and I tried to shave my sides myself with my dad's razor. I looked like a pure fool. My Mom wouldn't take me to the beauty shop to get that mess fixed either. I'll never forget when I did it a few days before the 4th of July and she made me go to the church picnic looking like that.
