Yes some people do treat their clothes carelessly, and some people are raised to take great pride in their belongings. It's not a class thing; it's a personal appearance and attitude thing. I know plenty of upper-class women who refuse to engaged in sports that will cause them to sweat profusely in the company of others, but they will workout excessively on the treadmill in their basement. Guess what's they're not wearing on the treadmill? A Lacoste shirt. As for people wearing designer dudes to the tennis court, clearly this is nothing new. People will play tennis in their backyard with family wearing whatever, but playing at the country club or someone elses home is a completely different occasion.

Different experiences create different perceptions and realities.
