I gave her the "what the F are yo utalkin about" look. And went away. It was only later that I realized what she said.

And poster... I agree. While I relate to having close guy friends, my best friend is my boyfriend of three years... I'd say look out. She sounds like she is just afraid of rejection, like if they broke up... so she will probably regret not dating him at some point. And you don't want a girl who is going to have a psychological affair.
