It was an NBC interview, and while I can't find the actual interview, it was along the lines of "we're here talking about him and I'm the one with the gold medal." 
Whatever, Chad. He smoked your ass yesterday and you're just pissy because you couldn't get your 5 because Shani didn't want to back your ass up.
It's sad when the commentator admitted that "these guys aren't teammates...at all."

The thing with speedskating is that most people are in it for a really long time. You grow up with the sport, and you grow up with the people in it. Shani and his mom are old news. My theory is Chad is just new so he doesn't have the long term relationship that the rest of the people have with them.
And they aren't teammates. Skating is a small sport where your competitors often are your family, but it is also an individual sport.
That being said, it is so great that they did so well. Whatever criticisms there are of the program, US Speedskating consistently produces top athletes. Too bad no one notices unless it’s an Olympic year.
