Last week was a very trying one for Gospel’s Hezekiah Walker. He was the victim of a vicious E-mail campaign that smeared his name. If you receive an email claiming that Walker is gay and left his wife for a transvestite, please discard it. This rumor is not true. Who would want to hurt him? Why would someone go to great lengths to defame him? Walker addressed his congregation about the rumors, and put their minds at ease. The Devil Is A Liar, he proclaimed. He said he will not be stopped in his work for the ministry.


The April issue of Essence magazine will feature a couple of revealing interviews. Nicole Murphy, the soon to be ex-wife of Eddie Murphy, opens up about that fateful night her husband was caught by the cops with a transvestite. She says she still doesn’t know the truth about that night. She says she asked him, why did you let him in your car? He responded he saw a woman crying and wanted to get her some help. Well, the woman turned out to be a man and all hell broke loose. They were stopped by the cops and it made headlines all over the world. Everyone wondered how she felt about it, and now Nicole is talking. I wonder why is she talking now? Is this a ploy to get more money? Maybe she’s sending a message: give me my money or I’ll really start talking. Oscar Winner Denzel Washington also opens up about the rumors regarding his marriage and womanizing. Denzel says he’s a big boy. He can handle all the negative talk, but he doesn’t like the effect it has on his family. For the record, he revealed there are no mistresses or secret babies.


The 37th Annual NAACP Image Awards air on Fox, March 3rd. Cuba Gooding, Jr. will be hosting. Special honorees include Carlos Santana, Susan L. Taylor and The Neville Brothers.


The Soul Train Awards will be taped on March 4th. John Legend is getting the Sammy Davis, Jr. Entertainer of the Year Award. R Kelly is getting the Stevie Wonder Songwriter of the Year Award. Stevie will be on hand to present it to him. Stevie is also getting a special sculpture. Jamie Foxx and Destiny’s Child are also getting big honors.


The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, admits she is finally comfortable with her weight. She says after years of yo-yo dieting, she is at peace. She reveals dieting made her miserable and unhappy. Aretha says she hated starving herself. She states people come to hear her sing, not talk about her weight. But Aretha, sometimes those outfits are not flattering…matter of fact, if it’s too tight or revealing, it’s distracting.


Jada Pinkett Smith is teaming up with Adam Sandler for the movie, Reign O’er Me. Don Cheadle and Liv Tyler will also star in the movie about a man dealing with his grief following the Sept. 11th attacks.


Is Shemar Moore going to return to the Young and The Restless? He is currently starring on the CBS show Criminal Minds, but he may pop up in a past storyline driven plot. Let’s just say, who’s your daddy?!!


Critics Be Damned! Tyler Perry showed them all. Despite mean-spirited, negative reviews, he still succeeded at the box office. Madea’s Family Reunion only cost $6 million to make, yet it made over $30 million at the box office. Tyler gives his fans what they want. The all star cast included Blair Underwood, Boris Kodjoe, Maya Angelou, Cicely Tyson and Lynn Whitfield.

Rapper and not so great Dancer Master P is making headlines after his stint on the hit show Dancing with the Stars. Master P could be headed to jail along with his brother, Silkk The Shocker. They are going to have to stand trial on gun charges. This is stemming from an incident last January when they were stopped by police. The police found loaded handguns under their seats. They could face three years in jail.


Pop Star George Michael says his recent arrest was his own fault. Michael was a pop sensation in the 80’s. This past weekend, he was just a former shell of himself when he was found slumped over the wheel of his car. Police found marijuana, tranquilizers and prescription pills in the car, and he was arrested. Michael is no stranger to getting arrested. Back in 1998, he was arrested for soliciting a cop. A lot of people want to help Michael. He suffers from depression, and he may be despondent over his love life. He was supposed to marry his longtime boyfriend earlier this year, but it never happened.
