It's already been said, but Alpha Gam allows new members to wear letters, just not the crest.
My main problem is when people drop/don't get initiated, and then they run around with our letters on saying they're still in a sorority, or just wear our letters period. You don't know what it means, it doesn't mean the same thing to you as it does to me...take it off! I had a girl in one of my classes tell the professor that she "was in a sorority once but thought it was really stupid" wearing a sweatshirt with "ALPHA GAMMA DELTA" across her chest! I almost had a fit! Great one for our PR, there.
