While losing mass amounts of weight rapidly may be bad for your health, I'd be willing to bet that being obese is far worse for overall health. People who have their stomachs reduced lose TONS of weight all at once and are better off for it (even though they're left with lots of extra skin, which is just a result of them stretching it out with their excess weight gain).

You are definately right. It is much easier for obese people to lose more weight a week than others.
