While 3-5 lbs a week may not seem like a lot, it's considered healthy. Losing mass amounts of weight in a short period of time can totally screw over your body over.
Even with shows like Celebrity Fit Club, they usually set target loss at 4-6 lbs.
At the end those 3-5 lbs add up, and we saw that with Petey. You could totally tell that he looked better after losing 27 lbs.

I'm all for healthy weight loss, but really 3-5 lbs. is nothing. I'm nowhere near their size and I could easily lose that in a week. I assumed that someone of a heavier set would be able to drop more than that because they HAVE more to lose.
While losing mass amounts of weight rapidly may be bad for your health, I'd be willing to bet that being obese is far worse for overall health. People who have their stomachs reduced lose TONS of weight all at once and are better off for it (even though they're left with lots of extra skin, which is just a result of them stretching it out with their excess weight gain).
