I asked the question more so to gain insight as to how people felt about that discussion and was it even valid. I can definitely see that as time goes on the focus on that will fade. I would love to have years of Iota experience behind me right now but at the same time i dont really want to rush becoming an "oldhead" or veteran in the game yet.
I'll never turn down great advice and wisdom because that only makes a person stronger, but on this one i just wanted to know not necessarily who, but how does one truly determine who runs the yard.

Honestly, I didn't read into this anymore than what was written (you said you we're having "trouble with a buddy of mine in a rival organization" - it seemed to me like there was an issue from your comment). Discussions about "who runs the yard" are lame to me and I was trying to give my "brotherly" response.
No one person/group truly determines who runs the yard (even though this may not be true at all schools - but if someone cares that much.... ). There is no "yard lord" or no "yard council". So again, let your actions be the determining factor.
Anyways, on with the conversation I guess....
