Of course you are all right...
But being right doesn't make it feel good. And your actions have an impact on others -- her family, etc.
It is, I think, one of the very hardest things a person ever has to do.
But it must be done.
You did the right thing, and you feel the right way about having to do it.
If it didn't bother you, then I would worry.
