I joined my sorority thru COB in the spring of my freshman year. I went through formal rush in the fall, all the way through round 3. The houses I was left with were Alpha Xi Delta (my #1 choice), and two others in which I just knew that I could NEVER be happy. (Don't mean to be mean, I just didn't fit in at those houses and didn't want to join a house just for the sake of joining.)

I also wasn't sure about the $$$ issue. It was my first semester of college and I wasn't sure yet how my expenses would run. I knew that there was a Spring process, so I dropped out.

Two of my friends on my dorm floor joined Alpha Xi, so I went to events with them and was given a bid in December to join the Spring class.

I don't regret the path I took, but spring classes are generally smaller so there were some things that I think we missed out on. Our class was only 5 whereas the previous fall had about 50! Big difference - they had had pledge class socials with fraternity's pledge classes, etc. Also, campus wide there are just WAY more new members in the fall than in spring, so sometimes it felt weird to be walking around campus with my pledge pin. In fall there are 100's of people walking around like that.

But on the flip side, my class was TIGHT. We were definitely the "fabulous five!" All of us were very active in the house and 3 of us ended up on Exec at the same time.
