Best Date: Was a set up by friends! He called me, and we were to go to the usual dinner & movie thing. So, I got all dressed up (tres chic restaurant!), and he called again. His godson's birthday was that day - did I want to make it another night, or join them for a family dinner (the godson's family). I chose the family dinner, knowing I'd get to know Alex better that way - and it was wonderful! Even though I was terribly overdressed, we played with the kids, talked with the parents, and even read a bedtime story. The little girl fingered my dress and said that I looked like a princess. *heart melts - ovaries begin hurt* All in all, the sudden informality when the expected went out the window made it wonderful - and we even got to hear the announcement that another godchild was on the way!
Worst Date: We had a mixer, and the day after, a guy called, and really asked a lot of questions as to where I stood, who I talked to, etc, because he had gotten my number from a brother. It was kinda last minute, but it was his birthday, and he wanted to take me to dinner. Okay...
First, he shows up in the lobby and I'm not ready. A sister goes down to sign him in, and the second he got to our suite, he said, "I'd like to use your phone." Fine by me. "I want some privacy." Okay, I'm kicked out of my own room and quizzing Betsy (who signed him in) about him, because I didn't remember him. She assured me that he was great, we'll have a good time. Mr. Romance comes out of my room and says, "Get your coat, we have reservations." At this point, I had a few myself! But we went to the restaurant, where we were late & lost our reservations. This is all about 6pm, and fun he wasn't! After wandering about for an hour, we go to another restaurant, where we have an hour wait, are finally seated and ordered our food. He then said, "Are you sure you talked to Stu last night, for a long time?" I said yes, and he responded, "I called Jay, who gave me your number, and he told me you did. But when I got to the dorm, I was shocked to see THE GIRL I WANTED TO ASK OUT (Betsy) sign me in & say that you were almost ready." If we hadn't ordered, I would have walked out right then. But no, I tried to salvage a little bit out of this mess by saying, "sorry to have confused you, but that must be why I didn't recognize you at first." <tense dinner>
Do we go right back to the suite? Of course not!
Finally, I convinced him that Betsy would be at the suite, if he took me home. He did. She wasn't. He needed to make another call, again, privately. Mr. Romance then called me back to my own room, shut the door behind me, and basically attacked me. I pushed him away, calling him crazy, to which he responded and I quote,
"I paid for your dinner - you owe me sex." I told him that there were names for women who did that and he was obviously deluded. I told him to get his coat, he was leaving. He said he had to use the bathroom. I told him to hold it.
As we went down the elevator, he had the nerve to say, "Please don't tell Betsy anything about this - I really do want to go out with her." I just stared at him, open mouthed, when the elevator stopped on another floor, and someone from another sorority got on, saying hi to him. She asked if we were on a date, and we both said
NO!!! When we got to the lobby, I asked her to sign him out.
Obviously, Betsy heard the whole story the next day!
