This has to be one of my favorite quotes ever.
While I agree that eliminating things like interviews, signatures and scavenger hunts goes too far and takes a lot of the fun and education out of pledging, this is over the top. MRE's? Sleep deprivation? You must be out of your tree.
If you wanted to run a military unit, you should have stayed in the military. (FWIW I think this stuff is just as much bull in the military as it is in a fraternity.)
