Oh my goonnnnnesss! I am the SAME WAY! Ooh - I hate when people are running around when I'm trying to do my work in the kitchen.
I also have to do my floors absolutely LAST. I'll even wait an extra day to do them. I usually sweep the crap from the counter onto the floor (there's usually not anything on the counter cuz I keep it clean but it's just the thought of it). Then, after all the dishes are done, counters wipe, fixtures cleaned (both kitchen and bathroom)...THEN I do the floors. Sweep every week. Sweep and mop every two weeks. That's how it goes in my house.
ETA: I have a little portable kitchen cart that has a wooden butcher's block for a top. But, don't even THINK about putting a knife to it! You best have a cutting board between the knife and the wooden top. My roommate left some little knife gashes in the top and, after the initial shock, I've started looking into professional refinishing...all it needs is a good sanding. But, I won't do it until one of us moves out.
OHH! I also HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE when people get out of the shower and leave the shower curtain scrunched to the side. I can just
see the mold growing in the creases. Plus, it's hard to straighten out (I use plastic curtains...easier to keep clean) so water can sneak past it onto the floor.
