in limbo
Seems like this situtation varies from campus to campus. The NPC
might well stand out of this. If Zeta Omega has a group which has emerged and wants to go with them, can they petition the
local authorities for recognition? I know this does not happen much with sororities but we call 'em interest groups. At the College of Charleston, there was a group which formed and wanted to petition TKE. The school had a shit-fit, would not give
a letter of approval...perphaps they were right, but if you wait for
Gamma Upsilon, the weakest on campus, to get better, you may
wait forever and after GU folds another falls to the bottom...but if
you must get an okay all around...will this take forever? Perhaps
this is the best way provided it is amicable. TKE had a group at the U of TN, never been there before, had 50 guys or so, and were met with great hostility. They are still alive but personally I
think we oughta fold our tent as we do not want to "push" TKE
where not wanted. There are SEVERAL NIC fraternities who have
entered campuses without permission and Cal-Irvine is one, for
example, who has been bullied by NIC colonies. The system does
seem to thrive and the school apparently has made peace, TKE does have an approved colony there now...but we held off for a
good many years.
So, I have no answer as regards K-State and do not purport to speak for the sororities. It is simply that a large number of those who've colonized have thrived. Those who did not simply did a poor job. You MUST have presence=numbers or like Theta,
a list of 400 girls who WANTED to join...back c1962. Beta has a
list of over 300 who want to revive that chapter at OK State. The
Betas are returning, have big bucks and millions in the kitty for a
new house 'cross the street from the union.
I am only wanting to call attention to Kansas State University and
encouraging activity. Perhaps I am wrong.
And, there is the ever-present little college who has only a few chapters, dwindling each year, and who will not let others on 'til
the bad breath boys get stronger...which'll not happen.
Give it a shot if you will...it is a fun place and Greeks are great!
