The same laws should apply to drugs as to alcohol. Driving under the influence, being in school under the influence, etc.

Nah, the actual irony is that you don't see the parallels between 'drunk in public' (ie being a public nuisance) and public smoking bans - note that 'public' exists here, as private smoking is supported by nearly everyone.
