at a public university near St. Louis, and I love it. I am one of the exceptions to the "Student Personnel" rule. I have a Master's, but it is in Political Science, not Student Personnel Administration, Higher Ed, or Counseling. I basically got into this position through prior experience, both professionally and as a volunteer for my national.
The money is adequate, but you will never get rich as a Greek Life Adviser (or in most Student Affairs positions for that matter). However, an important thing to keep in mind is that the higher up the chain you go in higher education, the less contact you will have with the students. That is the part of the job I really enjoy and makes it worthwhile. Also, I know lots of Greek Advisers who supplement their income through consulting and public speaking. Some do quite well!
