Vaughn stating he needed to "disappear" (IMHO) was that he needed to leave her thoughts and heart so SD-6 couldn't access whatever they were trying to access through Sydney....
Now...that being said, you can't believe anyone really "dies" on this show...but to see Lena Olin back on the show was a great surprise!!! I love her and her character!!!

Does it make sense if I took it both ways? I definately think that Vaughn isn't dead, but Syd needs to believe that he is. So, I understand the logic of him "disappearing" so that they don't get the correct information.
Loved the scene where he was like "you gave the wrong information". He he. Poor spy mommy, not!!!!
What's stupid. Why the hell did spy mommy go to all the trouble by kidnapping her own daughter and grandchild, when she could have somehow made contact with Syd, come up with a story (if the truth wasn't good enough) to why she needed to know the "code" (whatever) and I'm sure Syd would have told her what she remembered. Instead she went to all the trouble of kidnapping her and now making Jack pissed. Jack is definately gonna want to kill Irina now.
I have to say I loved the scenes with Sloane. It was kind of nice seeing him as a human. Ron did an amazing job showing how much Sydney actually means to him.
