Mystery solved!
I rec'd this from the NPC today:
According to Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities, Theta Upsilon was founded at the University of California in 1914. Theta Upsilon was admitted to associate membership in National Panhellenic Conference in 1923 and to full membership in 1928. In September, 1933, Lambda Omega , as an associate member of National Panhellenic Conference, was received into Theta Upsilon membership. Theta Upsilon was taken into membership by Delta Zeta on May 6, 1962.
So, if you wanted to, you could probably have your grandmother initiated into Delta Zeta if they do such a thing for groups that they absorbed. You could probably contact DZ for more background information about the absorption or ask DZRose or KillearneyRose if there is mention of this in the DZ history books.
