Me too! I'm 25.
In 1994 in Ontario, they changed the licensing requirements. It used to be that you could get your full license at 16, with a learner's permit at 15. Now, it's graduated licensing. At 16, you get a G1, which is like a learner's permit. Then after a minimum of 8 months (if you take driving lessons or 1 year if you do not) you can take a road test to get you G2. A G2 is still not a full license. There are still a few restrictions. After a year, you take another road test to finally get your full license called a G class license. If you do everything starting a 16, you will not be able to get a full class license till you are 18.
I have my G1. I have never really needed to get a license. Like NYC, it's not really needed here. You can get everywhere on public transportation. It's expensive to park downtown, and insurance rates are more expensive in the GTA than say, Northern Ontario. But I think I'm going to have to get my license soon. I'm sure my boyfriend is tired of driving my sorry ass around.
