As much as it bugged me that things were left out, at least we can be comforted with the knowledge that JK had to give final approval for the script. So she had to okay the stuff they left out.
Personally, I'm more annoyed with the fact that the Mauraders Map still hasn't be discussed (ie. who made it) and that Harry's Patronus is a Stag.
My friend, who hasn't read any of the books, actually asked about those two things, and I readily explained but seriously, they should be at least explained in the movies.
